INFORMATION TO KNOW
The Astico River, nestled in the picturesque landscape of northeastern Italy, is a captivating waterway renowned for its natural beauty and serene ambiance. Spanning approximately 80 kilometers through the provinces of Vicenza and Padua, it winds its way through rolling hills, verdant forests, and charming villages. Offering abundant opportunities for outdoor recreation, including fishing, kayaking, and hiking, the Astico River is a beloved destination for nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers alike. With its rich cultural heritage, diverse wildlife, and scenic vistas, the Astico River invites visitors to immerse themselves in the timeless beauty of Italy's countryside.
WHAT YOU WILL SEE
The Astico River is one of the two rivers near my home. It's not easy to find the right position for good bird photography; it requires walking up and down, continuously discovering new environments after every curve, restarting the search. Over the years, I've come to know some good spots, but there's always an exchange of information between my friends and me to discover new locations, especially for migratory birds whose spots can change every year.
Some of my images are featured in the book 'Fiumi d'Italia,' published and produced by A.F.N.I. (Associazione Fotografi Naturalisti Italiani).
